Acercas de Blue Channel Therapy
La misión de Blue Channel Therapy es mejorar la calidad de vida de los niños, adolescentes y familias a través de terapia de salud mental accesible y de alta calidad proporcionada por terapeutas y pasantes capacitados en Terapia de Desensibilización y Reprocesamiento por Movimiento Ocular (EMDR).
Nuestra visión es revertir el impacto que las experiencias adversas en la infancia tienen en las generaciones actuales y futuras.
En un estudio sobre Experiencias Adversas en la Infancia (ACE) realizado por Kaiser Permanente y los CDC, casi 1 de cada 6 adultos reportó haber experimentado cuatro o más tipos de ACEs. Algunos ejemplos de ACEs incluyen abuso sexual, abuso físico, negligencia, vivir en un hogar donde los cuidadores abusan de sustancias o tienen problemas de salud mental. Según el estudio, "... las ACEs son costosas. Las ACEs pueden tener efectos negativos duraderos en la salud, el bienestar y las oportunidades. Estas experiencias pueden aumentar los riesgos de lesiones, infecciones de transmisión sexual, problemas de salud materna e infantil, embarazos en adolescentes, participación en la trata de personas y una amplia gama de enfermedades crónicas y causas principales de muerte, como cáncer, diabetes, enfermedades del corazón y suicidio. Los niños que crecen con estrés tóxico pueden tener dificultades para formar relaciones saludables y estables. También pueden tener historiales laborales inestables como adultos y enfrentar dificultades financieras, laborales y depresión a lo largo de la vida. Estos efectos también pueden transmitirse a sus propios hijos. Algunos niños pueden enfrentar una mayor exposición al estrés tóxico debido a traumas históricos y actuales relacionados con el racismo sistémico o los impactos de la pobreza resultante de oportunidades educativas y económicas limitadas.
En el plan de los CDC para reducir el impacto de las Experiencias Adversas en la Infancia (ACEs), se solicita intervención temprana y tratamiento del estrés tóxico. La terapia de Desensibilización y Reprocesamiento por Movimiento Ocular (EMDR) es una práctica basada en evidencia, bien investigada y altamente efectiva para tratar los síntomas relacionados con el estrés traumático. Un aspecto importante de la Terapia EMDR es que fomenta la resiliencia y disminuye la probabilidad de que nuevos eventos adversos creen estrés traumático/tóxico.
Blue Channel Therapy ofrece terapia EMDR a niños, adolescentes y adultos para mejorar su calidad de vida y reducir el impacto negativo en su salud y resultados futuros.
Blue Channel Therapy también está comprometida con proporcionar capacitación y supervisión de alta calidad para nuevos terapeutas y proveedores de EMDR.

Career Opportunities
(Openings starting summer of 2026) Interviews with start after 2/14/2026
Our intensive clinical internship is for MAs in counseling (who can commit to their practicum and internship at our site) and Concentration year MSWs. This internship is for people who have some experience working with children and they are motivated to learn EMDR and/or Neurofeedback. This internship is typically 2 eight hour days in person and includes weekly individual and group supervision. The interns eventually carry their own caseload and get a feel of what it is like to work in outpatient therapy. All trainings are paid for and their is a stipend with a differential for people who speak languages other than English.
In addition, we hire over summer for an Employment Based internship for up coming academic year. The position is open to people with BSW or other social science bachelor's degree who speak Spanish and are passionate about working with children. The position is 16-28 hour per week paid at $25 per hour. The position entails a combination of clinical and administrative tasks including building rapport with clients/caregivers,completing screenings, communicating with caregivers, connecting families with case management resources, verifying insurance, scheduling clients and creating charts. The employment portion can be done completely virtually or a hybrid any days of the week. The internship portion receives a $500 stipend per semester and is in person.
(opening for fall 2025) First year MSW internship: this internship is an introduction into clinical work. These candidates have experience building relationship with people and they are highly interested in working with children. This internship includes outreaching clients and families, completing intakes/biopsychosocial, intro to diagnosing and co-leading groups. This internship can be done in person or mostly virtually. This is a stipend internship with a differential for people who speak languages other than English.
(opening for fall 2025) MSW macro internship: This internship is focused on nonprofit management. It includes opportunities to participate in nonprofit management, plan and run fundraisers, write and manage grants, create community connections, develop and review policies and evaluate programs. This is a stipend internship with a differential for people who speak languages other than English.

Externships:
Our externship is designed for therapists working toward obtaining their license. Our goal is to provide high quality training in EMDR, play based therapies and supervision in a shame free learning environment. Externs must have some experience working with children and be motivated to learn EMDR. By the end of the externship, externs are licensed LCSWs or LPCs, basic trained and certified in EMDR. They are very knowledgeable of working with low income/medicaid families and prepared to work for nonprofits or start private practices. All training fees and supervision hours are included and paid for by Blue Channel Therapy.
Full-time externs (typically 2 year program) are benefited W2 employees working 30-40 hours per week. Benefits include health insurance, dental, vision, Life, paid sick days and a 403b retirement plan. (flexible schedule with exception of a commitment to after school hours) Spanish speaking candidates are highly desired and are paid a differential.
